  7. What skills change and which stay the same as a manager moves up the managerial levels?

  1.  What did you discover, in the case, that was a bit shocking to you about the transition of becoming a manager?

  2. Why do you think the myths in “Why New Managers Don’t Get It” exist?  Did you believe in these myths prior to reading this article?  Do you still believe in one or more of these myths?

  3. Why do you think new managers are reluctant to ask for help?  Would you be reluctant?

  4. Describe the changes the managers in the article had to undergo?  What areas changed?  What did they have to give up?  What were their challenges?

  5. Does this article give you a different perspective on a previous manager you may have worked with?  Describe?
